Barbara Gehri has been working in the field of Intellectual Property since 1997 and has acquired a broad expertise in trademark, design and competition law as well as related areas being part of the lawyer teams of two well-established Swiss IP Law firms before joining the team at P&TS in June 2016.
Barbara Gehri advises our Swiss and international clients in trademark, design and unfair competition matters including strategic consulting, clearance searches, registration, office actions, refusals of protection, opposition proceedings, contract drafting, analysis and processing of infringements, settlement negotiations, settlement agreements, portfolio management, IP watching, IP assignments, IP transactions, IP due diligence, domain name disputes (incl. UDRP), and border measures. She has particular expertise in representing clients before the Swiss Trademark Office (Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property), the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) and the Swiss Federal Administrative Court. Barbara Gehri has in-depth knowledge of developing, completing and managing domestic and international trademark and design portfolios in various industries such as pharmaceuticals and chemicals, banks, insurers, healthcare, retail, luxury goods, movie, fashion, food and beverage, tourism, construction, logistics, energy, architecture, public transport, machinery, paper, textiles, printing and art. A large and well-established international network of Intellectual Property colleagues all over the world backs her up.
Barbara Gehri studied law at the University of Zurich, where she graduated in 1994 with the Master of Law (MLaw UZH). Previously, she studied art history, English literature and journalism at the University of Zurich and worked with several marketing and communication firms and with Swissair in Switzerland. Barbara Gehri was assistant manager with a globally established British retail company in the field of luxury consumer goods in London, where she also obtained the Certificate of the Swiss Mercantile Society College and the Certificate of Proficiency in English of the University of Cambridge.
Barbara Gehri is Vice President of the Association of Swiss Patent and Trademark Attorneys ASPTA (www.vsp.ch) . She moreover is member of INTA (International Trademark Association), INGRES (Institut für gewerblichen Rechtsschutz), FICPI (International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys), and APRAM (association des practiciens du droit des marques et des modèles).
In her free time Barbara Gehri mostly enjoys fine art, philosophy, and long walks in vibrant cities or silent landscapes. She is very interested in current topics and particularly fond of her garden.
