At the end of\u00a0August 2017, the P&TS staff were lucky enough to be able to visit the workshop of the famous and talented automaton maker, Fran\u00e7ois Junod http:\/\/www.francoisjunod.com<\/a>, in\u00a0Sainte-Croix, a small town in the\u00a0Jura mountains at\u00a0an altitude of 1,100 metres, home of the Swiss music box industry.\u00a0\u00a0Fran\u00e7ois\u00a0Junod is\u00a0unique in Switzerland, combining his engineering skills with those of a very creative artist.\u00a0\u00a0This trade of creator and manufacturer of automata has become very\u00a0rare, and fortunately\u00a0Fran\u00e7ois Junod is passing on his know-how to his employees to ensure the future of this marvellous art.\u00a0<\/p>\n

When\u00a0admiring his\u00a0creations we began to understand the complexity\u00a0of his work and and we were impressed by\u00a0the beauty and charm of his pieces.\u00a0 Several of his creations can be found all over the world with discerning collectors and some Swiss luxury watch manufacturers.\u00a0 One of his latest masterpieces marrying a high degree of technical difficulty with a rare beauty is called La F\u00e9e Ondine,\u00a0(Fairy\u00a0Ondine)<\/a><\/p>\n

We rounded off our visit near the summit of the\u00a0Chasseron, as you should, with a\u00a0fondue!<\/p>\n
