Augustin Muster-Bender

Patent Information Analyst

Languages: French, English, German

Holding a PhD in Physics from the University of Fribourg, Augustin Muster-Bender studied the theoretical and numerical aspects of light-induced forces on colloidal particles, at the intersection of optics and soft matter physics. In collaboration with an experimental research group, he developed a simulation software for light scattering and optical forces, which is now used by several research groups worldwide. He also trained artificial intelligence models to optimize the computational resources required for these simulations.

After a short postdoctoral position at the same institution, he joined P&TS in 2026 as a patent analyst.

In his spare time, Augustin is actively involved in several organizations: the Scoutisme Neuchâtelois association and the Société de musique Gérinia de Marly, where he plays the clarinet. He also enjoys hiking, cycling, and fishing.

Born in Neuchâtel in 1999.
