On 23rd March 2016 several changes came into effect regarding the community trademark :
- The office changed its name to «European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) ».
- The « community trade mark » became the « European Union trade mark ».
- The class headings do not cover all the products or services of the class, only the products or services of the specifically designated class. So it is necessary to make sure that the products and services are described in a precise manner. P&TS has been drawing up specifications of goods and services in this way for many years so that no amendment will be necessary if the trademark needs to cover new products and services.
- The taxes change when the basic fee only covers one class. In this case it is necessary to pay taxes for any additional classes if a filing or renewal includes more than one class.
