The Unified Patent Court (UPC) is a specialized court that will start operating on 1 June 2023. It was established to provide a unified system for patent litigation across the EU, making it easier and more efficient for patent holders to protect their intellectual property rights.
Although Switzerland is not part of the UPC, European patent attorneys from Switzerland with an additional European Patent Litigation Certificate will be able to represent clients directly before the Unified Patent Court.
Christophe Saam has recently been accepted on this list, which will enable him to defend the interests of P&TS clients both before the Swiss Federal Patent Court and before this new jurisdiction set up by the European Union.
