After obtaining a diploma in Physics Engineering at Polytechnique Montreal in collaboration with the Pulp and Paper Research Institute of Canada, Charles Madore obtained his doctor degree in Material Science at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology of Lausanne (EPFL).

Between 1994 and 1998, Charles has been active in research activities in the field of nano and micro-fabrication by means of electrochemical processes. The results of his research have been widely used in publications and presentations for international conferences.

From 1998 to early 2000, Charles worked at CSEM in Neuchatel as project leader in R&D projects related to microsystems and chemical sensors.  This activity involved the coordination of multidisciplinary teams as well as the acquisition of industrial, Swiss-founded (CTI) and European projects.

From 2001 to 2007 in Centredoc, Neuchatel, Charles was responsible for providing services in the domain of Economical Intelligence, searching and analysis activities in intellectual property.

Charles is lecturing on the subject of patent information and micro-fabrication.

Charles joined P&TS on August 1, 2007.

In his leisure, he enjoys hiking, photography and swimming.
